Last night, I watched the most Embarrassing result in Scottish football history. That takes some doing.
Whether it be Malmo, Sigma Olomouc, Maribor, Vaduz or even the first leg against Gibraltans, Lincoln Red Imps; the whole thing paints a familiar picture for Scottish football as a whole. Again, We could be starting the season with only 1 team in Europe past July.

Pat Fenlon can't bear to look as Hibs are hit for 7 at Easter Road |
Pre season felt different this year, Rangers had brought in lots of players from overseas. They have been so highly praised by the media. The normal football fan could be forgiven for lapping it up and expecting rangers to cruise into the Europa League group stages. It almost felt like Scottish football might have turned a corner. With Aberdeen linked with some big names and, if the rumours are to be believed, Rangers have spent upwards of £10m - with the majority of that coming in the form of soft loans. Maybe the Rangers board were also banking on the Europa League
None of Pedro Caixinhas signings looked up to the mark. I dont think its quite sunk in to the Rangers faithful what they have just gone out to. That will become apparent when AEL Limassol rip them to shreds. In one way, perhaps it just saved Rangers Embarrassment further down the road. God forbid if Rangers had to play the Luxembourger Champions, Differdange
So, all things point to a crisis. Time to lock ourselves up in the panic room.
Not quite. Its worth noting that this Rangers team have just played their first 2 competitive games together. So, yes theyre off to the worst possible start but it can surely only get better, right?
St Johnstone went down 2-1 to the little known Trakai. Doesn't sound great does it. Trakai have just played their 16th league game of the season and sit 2nd in the Lithuanian Premier Division.
Sounds a bit better now. It's important so stay positive.
St Johnstone had chance after chance at McDairmid park but couldnt find a goal. The task is now very difficult but not impossible.
Aberdeen look like they will be making the trip to Bosnia to play Siroki Brijeg. A decent side but Aberdeen have beaten bigger and better sides in recent years. They will get through that one.
Celtic will coast it against Linfield who were hanging on against San Miranese champions, La Fiorita.
Things arent so doom and gloom for Scottish football.
The same cant be said for Rangers - The media have had a tough time seperating the two, so its no surprise to have this reaction.
